Fathi Shaqaqi was the leader and founder of Palestinian Islamic Jihad. He was born in the Gaza Strip on the 4th of January 1951 to a family of refugees. [2] [3] He founded Islamic Jihad in 1981 with the goal of starting a Islamic state under sharia law in Israel and Palestine. [4]
