Lady Feodora Gleichen MRBS (1861-1922), was elected to the Society posthumously in 1922, making her one of the first female members of the Society alongside Christine Gregory FRBS and Flora Kendrick FRBS.
Lady Feodora Gleichen (1861–1922) Sculptor and medallist. Feodora Georgina Maud Gleichen was the eldest daughter of Prince Victor of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (1833–1891), a naval officer and, from 1866, himself a sculptor. He was the son of Queen Victoria’s half-sister, after whom Feodora was named.
Countess Feodora Gleichen (1861-1922) Signed and dated 1882 Description Feodora was the eldest daughter of Prince Victor of Hohenlohe-Langenbur, who had been appointed Governor and Constable of Windsor Castle in 1861 and whose portrait is also in the Royal Collection (RCIN 402015).
In this small bronze bust by the sculptress Lady Feodora Gleichen Queen Victoria is depicted in old age, facing the viewer and wearing a frilled cap, a veil gathered at the nape and a shawl loosely knotted at the front. The bust rests on a mottled green marble plinth with an outward curving front.
