20 de abr. de 2024 · Amalia of Solms-Braunfels (31 August 1602 – 8 September 1675) was Princess of Orange by marriage to Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange. She acted as the political adviser of her spouse during his reign, and acted as his de facto deputy and regent during his infirmity from 1640 to 1647.

In 1823 Hans Willem de Blocq van Scheltinga, the grietman (kind of mayor, judge) of Schoterlandt, bought the area of the former palace and in 1834 had a new estate built on the foundations of the old palace. The former royal park is developed into an English landscape garden. It is not clear who designed it.

De familie Solms-Braunfels behoorde tot de weinige getrouwen die de koning en de koningin van Bohemen in hun verbanning volgden. Amalia heeft daar met hen geleefd in al de ontberingen en gedeeld in het gebrek dat het vorstenpaar te verduren had.

The Welfenmausoleum in the Berggarten of Hannover, opposite the Herrenhausen Palace, used to be open in the past. But who would like to visit it now, will hear it is not open.
