Robert is later beaten by hobos and left unconscious on a freight train heading to Arizona. Upon arriving, he discovers that Maryland has been taken hostage by Mexican bandits across the border. After fighting the Mexicans for insulting the American flag and attempting to escape with Maryland, they are surrounded by the bandits.
