Frederica Louisa of Hesse-Darmstadt ( German: Friederike Luise; 16 October 1751 – 25 February 1805) was Queen of Prussia and Electress of Brandenburg as the second spouse of King Frederick William II .
Frederick William was born in Potsdam on August 3rd, 1770, the son of King Frederick William II and Frederica Louisa of Hesse-Darmstadt. He married in 1793 Louisa von Mecklemburg-Strelitz (with whom he had nine children) then, in 1824, Augusta von Harrach. He became King of Prussia on November 16th, 1797. He passed away in Berlin on June 7th, 1840.
Frederick (11 September 1747 – 20 May 1837), father of Prince William of Hesse-Kassel and grandfather of Queen Louise of Denmark. In December 1745, Frederick landed in Scotland with 6000 Hessian troops to support his father-in-law, George II of Great Britain, in dealing with the Jacobite rising .
Prince Frederick William III of Hesse (1854–1888); never married; died at sea on a voyage from Batavia to Singapore. Princess Elisabeth Alexandra Charlotte of Hesse (1861–1955); married Leopold, Hereditary Prince of Anhalt in June 1884 and had issue.
Frederick William was of practically Danish upbringing, having lived all his life in Denmark, but in 1875, when the senior branch of Hesse-Kassel became extinct, he settled in northern Germany, where the House had substantial landholdings.
