Ulric was the son of Margrave Poppo I of Carniola, whom he succeeded upon his death before 1044, and Hadamut, daughter of Count Werigand of Friuli and Istria. Ulric married Sophia, the daughter of King Béla I of Hungary and his first wife, Richeza, sister of the Polish duke Casimir I the Restorer.

25 de abr. de 2024 · Grablege der Wettiner. Die Fürstenkapelle hat man um 1420 an die Westturmanlage angesetzt. Ihr Stifter war Markgraf Friedrich der Streitbare, der 1423 mit dem Herzogtum Sachsen belehnt wurde und damit auch die Kurwürde erhielt. In der Begräbniskapelle der Wettiner wurden bis 1539 die Kurfürsten und Herzöge von Sachsen beigesetzt.
