Minutemen - Viet Nam [Hardcore Punk] (1984) While I love the Minutemen, and this song, and I was lucky enough to see them live, and yes they were categorized as hardcore in those days, I would argue that this song lands pretty squarely in the funk category. The James Chance and The Contortions influence is pretty apparent to me.
