Gabriele Renate Homey did her schooling at Schloss Salem School and the École des Roches in Normandy. Later, she pursued jurisprudence at the universities of Munich and Cologne. She went on to earn a doctorate in international law with a magna cum laude distinction in 1990, following the completion of her thesis on German-American commercial law.
