The media just selected them as the bands that we’re gonna “save” rock and roll. The post-punk revival was more based on 80’s post-punk and new wave and the garage rock revival was more rock and roll. But they both represented the same thing. If you ask me a lot of artists fit into both categories like The Strokes and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
