Georg von Peuerbach was born Georg Aunpeckh at Peuerbach near Linz, sometime after 1421. His standard birthdate, May 30, 1423, is derived from a sixteenth-century horoscope. About the year 1440 he received the degree of master of philosophy and the free arts, cum insigni laude, at the University of Vienna.
