30 de may. de 2020 · Probably in 1454, Georg von Peuerbach was appointed court astrologer by King Ladislaus V of Hungary and of Bohemia, who was only 14 years old at the time. Ladislaus spent most of his time in Prague and Vienna and Peurbach was able to also teach at the University of Vienna , where he obtained the licentiate in 1452 and the Magister artium in 1453.
Georg von Peuerbach (auch Georg Purbach, eigentlich Georg Aunpekh, Gelehrtenname Purbachius; * 30. Mai 1423 in Peuerbach in Oberösterreich; † 8. April 1461 in Wien) war Humanist und Astronom an der Wiener Universität. Durch eine verbesserte Planetentheorie wurde er ein Wegbereiter des kopernikanischen Weltbilds.

He is best known for his streamlined presentation of Ptolemaic Astronomy in the Theoricae Novae Planetarum, a task being finally completed by famous astronomer Johannes Müller von Königsberg, better known as Regiomontanus . Peuerbach hat u. a. ein Gutachten über den Halleyschen Kometen von 1456 geschrieben und Finsternistafeln ("Tabulae eclipsium") berechnet.
