Second Lieutenant George FitzGeorge Hamilton was born in London on 30 December 1898, the heir to a baronetcy and of royal blood on his mother’s side. The King and Queen stood sponsor at his christening. He died at the age of 19 in May 1918 during the aftermath of the German attack at the River Lys in the Arras and Bapaume area.
