The duke continued to visit the county and his presence at a ceremony in 1990 to rename Potterspury primary school, founded by the 4th duke in 1817, was particularly warmly welcomed.

Mr. Frost is unable to trace the origin of the fair, but contents himself with telling us that "it began on the 4th of August, and that Lee, Harper, and Petit set up a 'show' in it, behind the 'King's Head,' in the Hampstead Road.

(fn. 10) The property descended to his son Charles, Duke of Grafton, (fn. 11) who in 1732 granted a life annuity of £300 to his son, Charles Fitzroy, issuing out of 'all his messuages in Parke Place'.
George Fitzroy (1665–1716), created Earl of Northumberland (1674), and then elevated to Duke of Northumberland (1678) (Barbara (Benedicta) Fitzroy (1672–1737) – She was probably the child of John Churchill, later Duke of Marlborough, who was another of Cleveland's many lovers, and was never acknowledged by Charles as his own daughter.)
