General George Gordon, 5th Duke of Gordon GCB. George Duncan Gordon was born in Edinburgh on 2 February 1770, the eldest son of Alexander Gordon, 4th Duke of Gordon and his wife, the celebrated Jane Gordon, Duchess of Gordon, nee Lady Jane Maxwell. He was styled the Marquess of Huntly until 1827.

George Gordon, 5th Duke of Gordon, resided chiefly at Gordon castle, Banffshire, but died at his London residence in Belgrave Square on 28 May 1836. The Duke had died without issue and his brother had predeceased him and so the Dukedom became extinct.

Elizabeth Gordon, Duchess of Gordon ( née Brodie; 20 June 1794 – 31 January 1864), was a Scottish noblewoman. In 1813, she married George Gordon, Marquis of Huntly, afterwards the 5th Duke of Gordon. She was a member of the Scottish Episcopal Church but left it and joined the Free Church of Scotland in 1846.
