7 de feb. de 2024 · James not only invents a clever Bow Street detective named Cousins but also incorporates a real-life Runner named George Ruthven in the story. Ruthven made his name as one of the Runners who helped foil the infamous Cato Street Conspiracy in 1820.
Arrest. The execution of the Cato Street conspirators, 1 May 1820. On 23 February, Richard Birnie, Bow Street magistrate, and George Ruthven, another police spy, went to wait at a public house on the other side of the street of the Cato Street building with twelve officers of the Bow Street Runners.
