Known as Bertie, the 6th Earl of Clarendon followed in the family footsteps as a courtier and colonial governor, serving as aide-de-camp to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland from 1902-1905, and as Governor-General of South Africa from Jan 1931-Mar 1937.
