His son, the ninth Earl, was a Major in the Royal Artillery ( TA ). As of 2017 the titles are held by the latter's grandson, the tenth Earl, who succeeded in 1998. He is the eldest son of George Henry Villiers, Viscount Villiers (1948–1998), eldest son of the ninth Earl.

In March 1770, barely a month past her 17th birthday, Frances married George Villiers, the 4th Earl of Jersey (1735–1805), a 34-year-old peer who had succeeded his father in August 1769. The year before, the 4th earl had been appointed a Gentleman of the Bedchamber to King George III.

Villiers was one of the ‘zealous young men’ who pressed upon Newcastle the need for vigorous opposition and for collaboration with Pitt. He was among the founders of Wildman’s Club, appears in every minority list 1763-5, and was classed by Newcastle as a ‘sure friend’.
