5 de sept. de 2022 · Georgiana Cavendish (née Spencer), Duchess of Devonshire (1757–1806) was described by her contemporaries as ‘a phenomenon’ and a ‘constant charm’ – she lived a life of extremes which began with her marriage, aged 17, to William Cavendish, 5 th Duke of Devonshire (1748 –1811) in 1774.
Lady Georgiana Dorothy Spencer was born June 7, 1757 in Northamtonshire. In 1774, aged 17, she was married to William Cavendish, 5th Lord of Devonshire. Her husband had inherited a vast fortune and belonged to one of Englands most powerful families. The connection was certainly a very suitable one but the marriage soon became unhappy.
