Gerald Valerian Wellesley was a Church of England cleric. He was also the nephew of Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington. He was appointed domestic chaplain to Queen Victoria and became one of the Queen's most valued advisors and confidants. He also became Dean of Windsor.
Wellesley commenced independent practice as an architect in 1921 and in 1923 formed the partnership Lord Gerald Wellesley & Trenwith Wills [also known as Wellesley & Wills] with Trenwith Lovering Wills (1891-1972). The partnership was dissolved in 1943 when Wellesley became the 7th Duke of Wellington.
