Gerhard VI (c. 1367–1404) was the Count of Holstein-Rendsburg from 1382, and Duke of Schleswig as of 1386. Gerhard VI was born around 1367, the son of Count Henry II from the Rendsburg line of the House of Schauenburg and Ingeborg of Mecklenburg.

Sons of Gerhard VI, ruled jointly in Holstein-Rendsburg. As Gerhard also wanted to rule in Schleswig he claimed (unsuccessfully) this duchy for himself against his brother. Adolph was the mightiest vassal of Danish crown at his time, gaining royal Danish recognition in 1440.

Graf Gerhard VI. von Holstein-Rendsburg vereinte 1395 auf seinem Siegel erstmals die zwei Schleswiger Löwen mit dem holsteinischen Nesselblatt (gezackter Schild), wie es im heutigen Wappen Schleswig-Holsteins zu finden ist.
Gerhard VI Herzog von Schleswig-Holstein was the son of Heinrich II Graf von Holstein-Rendsburg and Ingeburg von Mecklenburg. He married Elisabeth von Braunschweig, daughter of Magnus II Herzog von Braunschweig and Catherine von Anhalt-Bernburg, in 1391. He died on 4 August 1404, murdered.
