The broad curriculum, coupled with Clausewitz’s extensive reading, expanded his horizons dramatically. His basic ideas regarding war and its theory were shaped at that time.

It did great damage to Allied shipping in northern waters during World War II before it was sunk by the British battleship “Duke of York” on Dec. 26, 1943.
Hace 6 días · The battleship Scharnhorst, lead ship of her class, was commissioned in January 1939, and saw extensive service during the Second World War alongside her sister Gneisenau. Scharnhorst became one of the last battleships to be sunk in a surface action when she was lost during the Battle of the North Cape on 26 December 1943.
