Mu (/ ˈ m (j) uː /; uppercase Μ, lowercase μ; Ancient Greek μῦ, Greek: μι or μυ—both ) is the twelfth letter of the Greek alphabet, representing the voiced bilabial nasal IPA:. In the system of Greek numerals it has a value of 40. [3]
Ancient Greek was a pluricentric language, divided into many dialects. The main dialect groups are Attic and Ionic, Aeolic, Arcadocypriot, and Doric, many of them with several subdivisions. Some dialects are found in standardized literary forms in literature, while others are attested only in inscriptions. There are also several historical forms.

Modern English is written with a Latin-script alphabet consisting of 26 letters, with each having both uppercase and lowercase forms. The word alphabet is a compound of alpha and beta, the names of the first two letters in the Greek alphabet.
