Bridget Bevan, or 'Madam Bevan', was born in 1698 in Derllys Court, Llannewydd, Carmarthenshire to a wealthy family. She was one of the main patrons and supporters of Griffith Jones' work. After his death, she continued with the work of running the schools. She died on 11 December 1779. Like Griffith Jones, she’s buried at Llanddowror.
