17 de abr. de 2024 · Lord William Bentinck (born September 14, 1774, Bulstrode, Buckinghamshire, England—died June 17, 1839, Paris, France) was a British governor-general of Bengal (1828–33) and of India (1833–35). An aristocrat who sympathized with many of the liberal ideas of his day, he made important administrative reforms in Indian government and society.

Spencer Perceval served as his Chancellor of the Exchequer and Chancellor for the Duchy of Lancaster. On 4th October 1809 he was successful in becoming the earl's successor as Prime Minister.
