Hans Krebs (4 March 1898 – 2 May 1945) [a] was a German Army general of infantry who served during World War II. [1] A career soldier, he served in the Reichswehr and the Wehrmacht. He served as the last Chief of Staff of the Oberkommando des Heeres (OKH) during the final phase of the war in Europe (1 April to 1 May 1945).

Hans Adolf Krebs was born in Hildesheim, Germany and by 1933 was working in the Medical Clinic of the University of Freiburg, a post from which he was dismissed in April 1933. By that time, in collaboration with his research student Kurt Henseleit, he had published the details of the first cyclic metabolic pathway to be discovered, the urea cycle.
