Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman GCB PC ( né Campbell; 7 September 1836 – 22 April 1908) was a British statesman and Liberal politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1905 to 1908 and Leader of the Liberal Party from 1899 to 1908. He also served as Secretary of State for War twice, in the cabinets of Gladstone and Rosebery.

Henry Campbell-Bannerman was born in Glasgow in 1836. He was educated at the High School of Glasgow, the University of Glasgow, and Cambridge University. After that, he worked in the family firm in Glasgow. He was elected to Parliament in 1868 as a Liberal Party MP for Stirling Burghs. In Parliament he rose quickly through the ranks of the party.
