1 de mar. de 2022 · Princess Mary's choice of groom was Henry Lascelles, 6th Earl of Harewood, a soldier who knew her brother Prince Edward, and who was 15 years her senior. The couple had met at the Grand National in 1921, before Henry proposed during a November trip to Balmoral and Sandringham.
In 1922, Henry Lascelles, Viscount Lascelles married Mary, Princess Royal, the eldest daughter of George V. Initially living in the nearby Goldsborough Hall, the couple moved into Harewood House at the death of Henry's father in 1929. The house is the family seat of the Lascelles family, and home of David Lascelles, the eighth Earl.

Lascelles was an opponent of the Grenville ministry’s repeal of the Additional Force Act, 30 Apr. 1806, and of their duty on iron, 9 May, acting as teller on both occasions. He also voted against them on Ellenborough’s seat in the cabinet, 3 Mar., and on the American intercourse bill, 17 June.
