  6. SIR HENRY MONTAGU, first Earl of Manchester (1563?-1642), judge and statesman, fourth son of Sir Edward Montagu, by Elizabeth, daughter of Sir James Harington of Exton, Rutland, and grandson of Chief-justice Sir Edward Montagu, was born at Boughton, Northamptonshire, about 1563.

  7. Other contemporary depictions of him include an anonymous, three-quarter length portrait in oils in the Middle Temple.182 Montagu was succeeded as earl of Manchester by his eldest son, Edward, who represented Huntingdonshire in the Parliaments of 1624-6.
