Anglesey was the second son of Henry Paget, 2nd Marquess of Anglesey, by his second wife Henrietta Bagot, fourth daughter of Charles Bagot. On 30 January 1880 he succeeded to the titles of 5th Earl of Uxbridge, co. Middlesex, 7th Baronet Bayly of Plas Newydd, Anglesey and Mount Bagenall, and 13th Lord Paget, of Beaudesert (Staffordshire).

Paget, Henry William (1768–1854), 1st marquis of Anglesey , lord lieutenant of Ireland, was born 15 May 1768 in London, eldest son of Henry Paget, earl of Uxbridge, and his wife Jane, eldest daughter of Arthur Champagné, dean of Clonmacnoise. He had six younger brothers and five sisters.

Henry was the eldest son of Henry Bayly, who changed his name to Paget in 1770 on becoming the 9th Baron Paget. The baron became the 2nd Earl of Uxbridge in 1784, after which Henry was styled Lord Paget. He was educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford, and in 1790 was elected as M.P. for Caernarfon Boroughs.
Henry Paget, 2nd Earl of Uxbridge (22 January 1719 – 16 November 1769) was a British nobleman, styled Lord Paget from 1742 to 1743. The only son of Thomas Paget, Lord Paget , and his wife Lady Elizabeth, he was commissioned a cornet in the 1st (Royal) Regiment of Dragoons on 23 April 1742, shortly after the death of his father.
