Hace 4 días · Thomas Cromwell ( / ˈkrɒmwəl, - wɛl /; [1] [a] c. 1485 – 28 July 1540), briefly Earl of Essex, was an English statesman and lawyer who served as chief minister to King Henry VIII from 1534 to 1540, when he was beheaded on orders of the king, who later blamed false charges for the execution.

Hace 3 días · It had been granted to Henry Ughtred in 1555, when it was in the tenure of Robert Wilson, perhaps a member of the same family as Robert Wilson, farmer of Morton Grange in 1534–5. In 1608 the chapel was granted in fee to Francis Phelips and Richard Moor.
Hace 5 días · Sir Henry's son Sir Robert Ughtred later conveyed it to Robert Hodgson, subject to the payment of £13 6s. 8d. a year, for which Hodgson compounded in 1524. (fn. 149) Hodgson sold the manor in 1529 to Joan, widow of Sir William Constable of Caythorpe, in Rudston, and her son Marmaduke.
