14 de feb. de 2024 · Sir Henry Williams (alias Cromwell) Joan Warren. Sir Oliver Cromwell ( c. 1562 – 28 August 1655) was an English landowner, lawyer and politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1589 and 1625. He was the uncle of Oliver Cromwell, the Member of Parliament, general, and Lord Protector of England.
The family line continued through Richard Williams, alias Cromwell, (c. 1500–1544), Henry Williams, alias Cromwell, (c. 1524–6 January 1604), then to Oliver's father Robert Cromwell (c. 1560–1617), who married Elizabeth Steward (c. 1564–1654) on the day of Oliver Cromwell's birth.
The family then consistently used and wrote its name as "Williams, alias Cromwell", well into the 17th century. He was educated at Queens' College, Cambridge. Baron Henry Williams' father Richard Williams {1500-1544} changed his surname to "Cromwell" and was married to FRANCES MURFYN 1499 – 1533. He was also known as The Golden Knight.

Richard Williams was the nephew of Thomas Cromwell. His father, a brewer of obscure origin who married Cromwell’s sister Catherine, was living at Putney in 1495 and at Greenwich in 1517. Leland thought that the family came from Llanishen near Cardiff, and an Elizabethan herald produced a Welsh pedigree 15 generations long.

Henry had 12 siblings: Isabell POWELL (born WILLIAMS ALIAS CROMWELL), Richard Cock WILLIAMS and 10 other siblings. Henry passed away in 1630, at age 64 in death place.
