Herbert John "Bert" Pitman (Sutton Montis, Somerset, Inglaterra, 20 de noviembre de 1877 – Pitcombe, Somerset, Inglaterra, 2 de diciembre de 1961) fue el tercer oficial del RMS Titanic. [1] También fue el único oficial del barco que no pertenecía a la Reserva de la Marina Real Británica.

Herbert John "Bert" Pitman MBE (20 November 1877 – 7 December 1961) was an English Merchant Navy seaman, who was the Third Officer of RMS Titanic when it sank in the North Atlantic Ocean with heavy loss of life after striking an iceberg during the night of 14 April 1912 on its maiden voyage.

Pitman's duties aboard the Titanic included working out the ship's position through celestial observation, finding the deviation of the ship's compass, general supervision around the decks, looking after the quartermasters and relieving the officers on the bridge whenever necessary.

Herbert John Pitman was the Third Officer of the Titanic. He was sent away by First Officer Murdoch to take charge of one of the first lifeboats, so his role in the disaster was minimal.
