Hace 1 día · The Kingdom of Prussia became the Free State of Prussia, of which Hesse-Nassau remained a province. In 1929 the Free State of Waldeck was dissolved and incorporated into Hesse-Nassau. In 1932 Wetzlar ( Landkreis Wetzlar [ de ] ), formerly an exclave of the Prussian Rhine Province situated between Hesse-Nassau and the Grand Duchy's Upper Hesse, was transferred to Hesse-Nassau.

Today, the term Nassau is used in Germany as a name for a geographical, historical and cultural region, but no longer has any political meaning. Hace 1 día · From 1868 to 1944, the city lay in the Prussian Province of Hesse-Nassau, and from 1944 to 1945, it was the capital of the Province of Nassau. In 1945, it became the capital of Greater Hesse and subsequently, in 1946, of Hesse. Wiesbaden is one of the oldest spa towns in Europe.

Die regierenden Fürsten entstammten dem Haus Hessen und führten nach der Erweiterung ihres Herrschaftsgebietes um die linksrheinischen Gebiete in Anlehnung an die ehemalige Pfalzgrafschaft bei Rhein den Titel Großherzog von Hessen und bei Rhein.
