Hesse [a] or Hessia [b] ( German: Hessen [ˈhɛsn̩] ⓘ ), officially the State of Hesse (German: Land Hessen ), is a state in Germany. Its capital city is Wiesbaden, and the largest urban area is Frankfurt, which is also the country's principal financial centre. Two other major historic cities are Darmstadt and Kassel.

Agnes of Hesse-Kassel (14 May 1606 in Kassel – 28 May 1650 in Dessau) was a princess of Hesse-Kassel by birth and by marriage Princess of Anhalt-Dessau. Life [ edit ] Agnes was a daughter of Landgrave Maurice of Hesse-Kassel (1572-1632) from his second marriage to Juliane of Nassau-Siegen (1587-1643), the daughter of Count John VII of Nassau-Siegen .
Frederick died on 24 September 1655 in Costian near Poznań, Poland, during the Second Northern War, in the army of his brother-in-law Charles X Gustav of Sweden. He was buried in the Market Church in Eschwege; it took two years before his coffin arrived there. Hesse-Eschwege fell to his brother Ernest of Hesse-Rheinfels.
