In 1308, Count Henry VII, born around 1278/1279 in Valenciennes, was elected King of the Romans by the prince-electors under the influence of his brother Baldwin, Archbishop of Trier, and Peter of Aspelt, Archbishop of Mainz, both of Luxembourgish origin.
