When Louis I married Ludmilla, the widow of Albert III, Count of Bogen , he adopted the coat of arms of the counts of Bogen together with their land, along the Danube between Regensburg and Deggendorf.

It became a secundogeniture of the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty, who were deposed for the House of Bourbon-Parma in 1801.
