Hugh Bigod (c. 1211 – 1266) was Justiciar of England from 1258 to 1260. [1] He was a younger son of Hugh Bigod, 3rd Earl of Norfolk . In 1258 the Provisions of Oxford established a baronial government of which Hugh's elder brother Roger Bigod, 4th Earl of Norfolk was a leading member, and Hugh was appointed Chief Justiciar.

Era hijo de William de Warenne, V conde de Surrey, y de Maud Marshal. Su madre era hija de William Marshall y viuda de Hugh Bigod, III conde de Norfolk. Por tanto, Roger Bigod, IV conde de Norfolk, era medio hermano suyo. Warenne era aún niño cuando falleció su padre, recayendo la posición de tutor sobre Pedro II de Saboya.

Marriage and family. Bigod married firstly to Juliane de Vere (died c. 1199). She was the daughter of Aubrey de Vere II and Adeliza de Clare, the daughter of Gilbert Fitz Richard de Clare, 2nd Earl of Clare. The marriage was dissolved before 1156. They had one son: Roger Bigod, 2nd Earl of Norfolk (born c. 1144–5).
