El pueblo Yurchen estaba formado por tribus de lengua tungús (familia altaica) que habitaban en las actuales provincias chinas de Heilongjiang y Jilin.

L'oficial Song Tong Guan (1054–1126) aconseyó al emperador Huizong (1100-1125) formar una alianza colos yurchen y, nuna campaña militar conxunta, los asociaos ganaron a dinastía Liao y conquistaron definitivamente los sos territorios en 1125.
