  1. Iorwerth mab Owain Gwynedd, known as Iorwerth Drwyndwn ('the flat-nosed'; [1] c. 1130 – 1174), was the eldest legitimate son of Owain Gwynedd (the king of Gwynedd) and his first wife Gwladus ferch Llywarch. He married Marared ferch Madog.

  3. IORWERTH DRWYNDWN (The Flat-nosed) (died probably c. 1174), prince of Gwynedd. Elder son of Owain Gwynedd by Gwladus, daughter of Llywarch ap Trahaearn. He married a princess of Powys, namely Marared, daughter of Madog ap Maredudd, by whom he had one son, the future Llywelyn ap Iorwerth.

  4. She was born c. 1113. This tends to place the birth of Iorwerth at c. 1128. He married Marged ferch Madog ap Maredudd, king of Powys. She was born c. 1140/1145. Llewelyn was their first child. We should expect their first child to be born before 1160. However, Llewelyn had a base son prior to his marriage, in c. 1194. [9]
