Hugues Claude Pissarro (born 1935) is a French painter. He is alternately known as Hugues Claude Pissarro, H. Claude Pissarro, and professionally as Isaac Pomié or Hugues Pissarro dit Pomié. [1]
By the end of 1989, Hugues Claude began a series of contemporary landscapes which were signed “Isaac Pomié” in order to distinguish them from his Impressionist works. Today, the contemporary paintings are signed “Hugues Pissarro dit Pomié”.
Hugues Claude Pissarro, also known professionally as Isaac Pomié, is the grandson of the Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro and son of Paulemile Pissarro. Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine and enveloped in an artistic environment, he inevitably spent his childhood and youth with brushes in hand.
He finally returned to figurative art from the '80s onwards using the pseudonym of Isaac Pomié, working with tubes of paint directly on the canvas and using his fingers.
