Countess de Clare and Countess of Cornwall Isabel Marshal was born at Pembroke Castle daughter of William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke and Isabel de Clare. She was one of eleven children, and the granddaughter of John FitzGilbert and Sybil de Salisbury, Richard de Clare Strongbow and Aoife of Leinster.
