Ishida Mitsunari ( 石田 三成, 1559 – November 6, 1600) was a Japanese samurai and military commander of the late Sengoku period of Japan. He is probably best remembered as the commander of the Western army in the Battle of Sekigahara following the Azuchi–Momoyama period of the 16th century.

Mitsunari Ishida (石田 三成, Ishida Mitsunari) is best known in history for leading the Western Army at Sekigahara. He won Hideyoshi 's favor as an excellent financial manager and master of the tea ceremony.
Ishida Mitsunari served as one of the five magistrates under Hideyoshi and supported him. After Hideyoshi's death, he formed the Western Army with Terumoto Mori as its commander-in-chief to defeat Tokugawa Ieyasu, who was aiming to take over the country, but was defeated at the Battle of Sekigahara.
