This year’s award is restricted to books with an imprint of 2022. "Central European history" is understood to include all German-speaking countries as well as areas previously included within the Habsburg monarchy.

Magyar lakta területeken néhol munkatilalommal ünneplik a tavasz első napját, máshol úgy tartják, hogy ezen a napon meg kell fürdeni és tiszta fehérneműbe bújni.

It was ruled by the Habsburg dynasty from 1438 till its dissolution in 1806. In fact, a specifically Austrian Empire was only proclaimed in 1804 when it became obvious that the Holy Roman Empire had no future.
