27 de mar. de 2024 · James Douglas, 4th earl of Morton (born c. 1516—died June 2, 1581, Edinburgh, Scot.) was a Scottish lord who played a leading role in the overthrow of Mary, Queen of Scots. As regent of Scotland for young king James VI (later James I of England) from 1572 to 1578, he restored the authority of the central government, which had been weakened by years of civil strife.
