  2. 30 de abr. de 2022 · James was the elder son of the Hon. Alexander Duff, who succeeded his brother as third Earl Fife in 1809. He was educated at Edinburgh and was not intended for the army. On 9 September 1799 he married Mary Caroline Manners (second daughter of daughter of John Manners and Louisa Tollemache, 7th Countess of Dysart), who died on 20 December 1805 without children.

  3. Alexander Duff, 1st Duke of Fife, was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on November 10, 1849. He was the only son of James Duff, 5th Earl Fife and Lady Agnes Hay, daughter of William Hay, 18th Earl of Erroll and Lady Elizabeth FitzClarence who was an illegitimate daughter of King William IV and his mistress Dorothea Jordan.

  4. James Duff was born on 29 September 1729. He was the second son of William Duff (d. 1763), Earl of Fife, Lord Braco of Kilbryde, Viscount Macduff, in the Peerage of Ireland. Like his father before him he was MP for Banff, elected first in 1754, then re-elected in 1761, 1768, 1774, and 1780. In 1784 he was MP for Elgin.
