James Edward Hubert Gascoyne-Cecil, 4th Marquess of Salisbury, KG, GCVO, CB, PC (23 October 1861 – 4 April 1947), known as Viscount Cranborne from 1868 to 1903, was a British statesman.

James Edward Hubert Gascoyne-Cecil, 4th Marquess of Salisbury (October 23 1861–April 4 1947) was the eldest son and heir of the Victorian statesman Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Salisbury. He was educated at Eton and at University College, Oxford. He succeeded his father in 1903.

Leben und Wirken. Cecil war der dritte Sohn des James Gascoyne-Cecil, 2. Marquess of Salisbury, aus dessen erster Ehe mit Frances Gascoyne. Als jüngerer Sohn eines Marquess führte er ab Geburt die Höflichkeitsanrede „Lord“ Robert Gascoyne-Cecil.
