  5. James, second Marquis of Hamilton, bom 1589; died 2nd March 1624-25. Succeeded his uncle as Earl of Arran in 1609. On 5th May 1608 he was created Lord Aberbrothwick (Arbroath), and on 16th June 1619 he was created a Peer of England as Earl of Cambridge and Lord Innerdale.
