James Hamilton, 3rd earl of Arran, (born 1537?—died March 1609), earl of Arran who was twice considered as a husband both for Mary Stuart and for Henry VIII’s daughter Elizabeth (afterward Elizabeth I).

When James Hamilton 3rd Earl of Arran was born from 1537 to 1538, in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland, his father, James Hamilton Duke of Chatellerault, 2nd Earl of Arran, was 23 and his mother, Lady Margaret Douglas, was 23. He died in March 1609, in Scotland, United Kingdom.
