Jane Gordon, Duchess of Gordon (née Maxwell; 1748 or 1749 – 14 April 1812) was a Scottish Tory political hostess. Together with her husband Alexander, 4th Duke of Gordon, and son George, Marquess of Huntly (the future 5th Duke of Gordon), she founded the Gordon Highlanders, a British Army infantry regiment which existed until 1994.

7 de may. de 2024 · Jane Maxwell, the daughter of a minor baronet, married the 4th Duke of Gordon in 1767. The Duke was one of the most eligible men in Britain, known for his good looks and extensive landholdings.
17 de ago. de 2020 · Jane seems to have thrown herself into her seven children, and the duke’s natural children by other women, of which nine were brought up at Gordon Castle. The castle and its gardens were improved, with parts of it being rebuilt and two pavilions being added.
Jane Gordon, (1748-1812), née Maxwell, wife of Alexander Gordon, 4th Duke, known as the 'beautiful Duchess of Gordon' laid out the picturesque designed landscape at Kinrara. She married Gordon in 1767 from whom she became estranged in 1789, having borne him two sons and five daughters.
One of London's most prominent hostesses; in 1767 she married Alexander Gordon, fourth duke of Gordon. She was active in Tory politics and married three of her daughters to dukes.
