Jay and the Americans fue un grupo de música rock que alcanzaron popularidad en los años 60. 24 de oct. de 2021 · Jay Black, lead singer for the 1960s pop group Jay and the Americans, has died at the age of 82. The band announced the singer's death in a statement posted to Facebook on Saturday.

Jay and The Americans were a popular pop music group of the 1960’s. Their primary lineup consisted of John “Jay” Traynor (later replaced with Jay Black), Howard Kane, Kenny Vance.
By the time high school rolled around, he was singing & playing the guitar. In college, Jay, a theater arts major, started a tribute band playing 50’s and 60’s music that quickly became a well known, and popular part of the Chicago music scene.
